Let's start with drinking water..

So, you ask, if not bottled water or tap, what's left? Is there really any safe, pure, clean water to drink?

I'm happy to report there is!

Ist Option for Clean Water; an AWG:

The best option in my opinion (because it's the least expensive and best for the planet) is an "Atmospheric Water Generator" or "AWG", an appliance that makes 99.99% pure, delicious water from the humidity inside your home.

For about 10 cents a gallon, you get pure water and peace of mind. Here in Douglas Co, Oregon, my AWG makes 3+ gallons a day all year round and supports 2 adults, 2 dogs and 5 chickens. It will work anywhere the humidity is 30% or higher. (ck. weather report your town)

Prices do vary, usually $1000 to $1600., but will quickly pay for itself. Some dealers will "lease to own" for less than $70 a month. Popular brands include "Ecoloblue", "DewPointe", "Water Pure International" and "Water Micron World". All machines are comparable because of simple technology, but do your own diligence with regard to warranty and pricing.

Beside easy and affordable maintenance, an AWG protects your water from terrorism, which is a huge point to consider! I have owned one for 4 years and is one of the best choices ever made for health concerns. The taste of pure water is absolutely addicting and once you taste it, you won't want anything else, trust me on that! Filtering water from the air is way more efficient and cheaper than trying to filter the toxic crap that comes out of your tap. I urge you to check these appliances out.

2nd Option for Clean Water; Reverse Osmosis:

The 2nd best option would be to filter your tap water with a quality Reserve Osmosis system that fits under your sink. Be mindful, a RO under sink application wastes 2 gallons of water (that you pay for) for every drinkable gallon, But ...... Reserve Osmosis removes the entire spectrum of drinking water contaminates (including the natural minerals.)

natural minerals should be replaced to assure proper pH. This is easily done by adding "trace mineral drops" to each gallon of drawn drinking water. Water with a pH lower than 6.0 is considered acidic and is not suitable for long term drinking.

Some RO systems come with a mineral infuser, then mineral drops are not needed. A superior quality under sink RO system with UV light and mineral infuser can be found for less than $900. but with increasing demand for cleaner water, I expect the prices to go up. Yes, RO does filter out radiation particles!!

More Options

UV Light or UV Filter - destroys all viruses, deactivates the DNA of bacteria and is compatible with all other filtering processes. Add to under sink RO systems and is the perfect "add-on" for well and spring water users.

Distiller - A distiller will give you pure water, but uses lots of electricity to do it, heats up your kitchen, etc. Distilled water starts as tap water and has an average pH of 5.8, which is considered acidic. It's also quite slow, taking over 5 hours to make 1 gallon.

Carbon Filter - removes chlorine, bad taste and odors.

Brita filter - Brita filters are carbon based and will remove bad taste, chlorine, it's odor and some lead, but does absolutely nothing for most contaminants, viruses or bacteria.

Refrigerator filters - Most refrigerators filters are carbon based.
